Primary Explore Gender Equality Education

In1990, during the world conference on education for all in Jomtien, it was advocated to eliminate educational differences between males and females and to achieve equality of men and women on education before2015. Since then, gender equal education is promoted all over the world.Great successes are attained with the joint efforts of the whole world, yet there are still quite few problems, especially the gender inequality during the learning courses, garnered widespread concerns. Educations in the schools are very essential to the developments of students’values and outlooks on the life and the world, which will influence all their lives. Whether the gender equality education in schools meets the international standard can also directly affect developments of students’concept of gender equality.This thesis probes the three different aspects of gender equality education using the method of references analysis.First, present the history of the developments of gender equality education and the efforts of the international communities. Start with the gender parity of education to beyond that, the focus of the international commitment is shifting from pursue schools’enrollment to learning process. Leading by UNESCO, World Bank and UNICEF, the three international organizations helped many countries’poor region all over the world, especially the girls’education, to promote their gender equality education.Second, analyze and summarize the effective policies on the promoting of gender equality education within and outside the schools. Within the schools, we have to develop gender equal textbooks, train teachers with gender equal awareness, create gender equal study atmosphere. Furthermore, in order to ensure the development of gender equal education, contributions from the state policies, communities and families are all important.Third, based on the related international criteria, searching for the rightful understandings and practices of gender equality education. Gender equality education is the education build on gender equality and gender sensitivity with ensured equality and respects on the differences. Schools need to incorporate gender equality into contents of courses, teaching processes, and to create international standard based gender equal atmosphere. Governments should enact correlate legislations and formulate policies to appeal the collaborations of communities, families and schools, to grantee the gender equality education is spread in the whole society.
