The court system of the United States has always been paid attention to in academia. The court systems of the United States implement "double track", which means, the federal court system and the state court system are two parallel court systems. But the researches aiming on the state court system of the United States are still relatively few. The court system of Maryland State, which as one of the13earliest states to found the United States, has gone through constant improvement and development. This article takes Maryland State for example to show the courts structure and the judges’ selection system of the United States, hoping to provide Chinese legal system building, especially the judicial reform and development, with experience and reference value.The main content of this article can be divided into five parts: The first part is to introduce the court systems of the United States, including the state court systems of the United States in the colonial period and the status quo of state court systems; The second part is to introduce the construction of Maryland court system, according to the two level—trial courts and the appeal courts; The third part is to introduce the rules of judge selection in Maryland court system, including the relevant legal provisions and two auxiliary agencies for judges’ selection and dismission; The forth part is to introduce the operation mechanism of Maryland court system, mainly through showing a court case from Court of Appeals in Maryland; The last part is to discuss the inspiration of related system in the United States to China, providing my recommendations on two aspects—litigation system and the judge supervision.
