Research On Women’s NGO Development In Northwest Ethnic Minority Region

Western China ethnic region is characterized as outdated infrastructure, weakcomprehensive strength and low per capita income. While the high degree of ethnicsensitivity and behindhand economic development make the western area stand on theweak position when compared with eastern area. As a weak group of weak area,women in the western area encounter with more problems in the development processthan other women, factors of religious sensitivity, special manners and customs andlower education degree all impact the development of western women in variousaspects. Women’s NGO, as an organization, can help to cultivate the sense ofparticipation in community activities for the ethnic minority through carrying outsome organizational projects and activities, in this way to expand the social impact ofwomen in ethnic minority area, and provide a feasible path for solving their problemsand promoting their development. Hence, the study on women’s NGO of ethnicminority region is of great significance.This paper is developed on the study object of women’s NGO in northwest ethnicregion, based on qualitative study on some women’s NGO organizations and discoverstheir distribution types and features, local administration function and developmentbottleneck, so as to try to discuss development dilemma and find out general strategy.Through analysis, there comes out some information in this paper: women’sNGO organizations in northwest ethnic region have there own characteristics: smallamount of their quantity and scale, single structure of the organization types, mainlyindustry association form; women’s federation is the basis, limited development spacefor its grassroots nature; greatly impacted by religion.Meanwhile, the author discovers that women’s NGO in northwest ethnic regionplays significance in local administration functions, which are displayed in the aspectsof economy, policy, culture, society, etc.. But the left behind economy condition,worse education environment and sensitivity in religion cause many encumbrance forthe development of women’s NGO in this region, which are clearly manifested insocial thought resistance, weak self ability and inadequate institutional environment etc.. Regarding to these problems, on the foundation of administration theory, theauthor attempts to approach the survival model of non-government organization in theadministration but non-govern situation, in order to raise social thinking to thesurvival and development of women’s NGO of our country.
