New Development Of The Chinese Communist Party’s Policy Toward Taiwan Since The Sixteenth Congress

Since the Sixteenth Congress, the Communist Party of China has made a majoradjustment on Taiwan work under the new situation, a series of innovative policies andmeasures have been proposed. Firstly, Clearly positioned the cross-strait relations status quo,put forward the concept of the "common home" and "fate", given the "one China" principle anew connotation; secondly, promoted cross-strait peace talks, contributed to the historichandshake of cross-strait political parties three times, and created the new pattern ofcross-strait political parties’ interaction; thirdly, the enactment of the “Anti-Secession Law”,opened to a new thinking of rule alone by law; fourthly, more hopes on the Taiwan people, topromote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.Since the Sixteenth Congress, the adjustment and development of the ChineseCommunist Party’s policy toward Taiwan is not accidental, but has its objective necessity. It isan inevitable choice that the Communist Party of China to promote the reunification of themotherland and firmly grasp the theme of peaceful development of cross-strait relations; thatthe Chinese Communist Party deal with Taiwan’s political and ecological changes in thechanges in Taiwan’s political situation; that the Communist Party of China promoteAsia-Pacific regional peace and prosperity to maintain regional stability.Since the Sixteenth Congress, under the guidance of the correct policy toward Taiwan inthe Chinese Communist Party, the cross-strait relation has been gratifying development. Abasic political mutual trust has been established, and a new situation in the cross-strait peacehas been created; a closely cross-strait economic and trade exchanges has been realized, and across-strait economic cooperation has been created; the cross-strait cultural positiveinteraction has been promoted, and a new situation in the cross-strait cultural exchanges hasbeen created; the cross-strait civilian exchanges has been promoted, and a new situation ofcross-strait civilian exchanges has been created.It is the ardent desire of the entire Chinese people to achieve reunification of themotherland. We firmly believe that, under the joint efforts of Communist Party of China and the compatriots on both sides, under the joint efforts of the sons and daughters on both sides,the great cause of reunification of the Chinese nation will certainly be able to the earlyrealization.
