Mao Zedong’s thought about cadre’s participation in productive labor is animportant component of his thought about building of a strong contingent of cadres.It enjoys a significant historical status and great and far-reaching historicalsignificance in history of the communist party of China and the People’s Republic ofChina. Cadre’s participation in productive labor is an important act to keep in closecontact with the masses, an effective way to overcome bureaucracy, a veryimportant policy of the Chinese communist party under the socialist system and thesocialist construction period. Strengthening the research of Mao Zedong’s thoughtabout cadre’s participation in productive labor and advocating cadre’s participationin productive labor has great importance to strengthen and improve party buildingand keep a Close party-mass relationship, and to construct a socialist harmonioussociety under the new historical conditions.This paper tries to study on Mao Zedong’s thought about cadre’s participation inproductive labor from three aspects of the proposed basis, the main content and therealistic enlightenments. It mainly focuses on the following problems, that is, thetheory basis and practical needs of Mao Zedong’s thought about cadre’s participationin productive labor, all cadres should participate in productive labor, physicallabor should be balanced with mental labor, cadre’s participation in productivelabor should be institutionalized, cadre’s participation in productive labor helpsadvance cadre style construction and serve the national economic construction, andto establish regulation and strengthen management for the basic guarantee.
