Obama took office, to abandon the Bush Administration policy of "unilateralism",launched the strategy of "smart power" diplomacy. The strategy not only is theguiding philosophy of the U.S. diplomatic, and had a profound impact on worldpolitics. It’s very worthy of our attention and research."Smart power" strategy is only the change of U.S. diplomatic style andstrategy.In real terms it is still to consolidate the U.S. position of world leadership.Today’s world of economic globalization, the interdependence of countries, acountry’s foreign policy, especially foreign policy of a superpower like the UnitedStates will inevitably have an impact on other countries. In this paper, by the analysisof the Obama administration’s "smart power" strategy, we can interpret its impact onSino-US relations.The article introduces the U.S. domestic and international situation, the changeof U.S. diplomatic concept, and the unsuitability of Bush Administration’s"unilateralism" for the status quo to analyze the background of the ObamaAdministration’s "Smart power" strategy following by further discussion about itscontent and essence. With numerous contents,"Smart power" strategy is still toconsolidate the America’s world leadership. In order to understand the current U.S.diplomatic strategy and its intention directly, this paper put emphasis on the "Smartpower" strategy overall promotability, and probed influence and enlightenment of" Smart power" strategy to Sino-US relationship which is the article’s main propose.Due to the positive and negative impact on Sino-US relationship cause by "Smartpower" strategy, China shall keep alert all the time, deal with it wisely to safeguardour national interests.
