The Analysis Of The Elderly Social Status From The Social Participaiton Perspective

The problem of the relationship between the older age groups and social is afundamental problem relating to the social status of the older persons. The higher the socialparticipation of the older age groups, the more social recognition and respect, and their socialstatus is higher. Chinese society has undergone two adverse changes to the older age groupssince into the process of industrialization last century: First, the social status of the older agegroups began to decline; second, the aging trend is more and more serious. Because thepattern of urban and rural split and the establishment of the city retirement system, whetherrural or urban areas, the elderly are increasingly marginalized in society, aging brought toChina a heavy burden of social security.Since1999, China has entered into the aging society, and the aging population problemis serious. by the end of2010,65years or older population had reached119million in china.The huge number of old people group because emeritus had to withdraw from the main socialroles in the social activity areas; Because of the children’s grow up or widowhood, Part of theold people’s family role have weakened, all of the factors make the old people faces manyproblems in their social life. Meanwhile, a large number of old human resources cann’t or canrarely into social fields, this is also a great waste to the social development. This paper basedon the background of the old people’s society participation of various restrictions andcountermeasures.This paper is composed by five parts: the first part is the introduction, researchbackground, research status, research methods; the second part is the related concepts andtheoretical framework. The key concepts, and the related interpretation of the framework aredetailed described; the third part is the analysis of the situation of the older age groups socialparticipation in Jilin Province, and the related describes of the older age groups in economicparticipation, political participation and social participation, at the same time, make acomparative study of urban and rural differences and gender differences for the older agegroups in Jilin Province; the fourth part is the analysis of social status of the older age groupsin Jilin Province, analyze the changes for the social status of the older age groups and itsreasons, and put forward the theoretical model about enhance the relationship between theolder age groups and social in the perspective of social participation of the older age groups;part five is conclusion and reflection, formed a basic summary of the current social status ofthe older age groups in Jilin Province, and proposed the corresponding countermeasures.
