Contemporary Soldiers Happiness Research

It is focusing on people’s suffering and pursuing all mankind’s happiness that the theultimate and sole concern of Marxist Philosophy. Happiness, as a kind of inner feeling with itsown content, which can be influenced by the objective of subjective conditions and factors.The happiness value varies a lot among people from different groups, different careers,different periods and different life experience. As a national political superstructure importantconstituent, the military force shoulders this kind of special function and mission. Thesoldiers’ understanding of the happiness mirrors the life goal, life significance and life valueof their own, reflects that whether they can devote to our motherland satisfactorily and absorbin their military service, and even have an impact of our social harmony and stability, thepolitical status of our parties and the rise and fall of our nation. During a social transitionalperiod with peace and economic construction centered, problems such as the diversification invalue choice and life mode, the moral slide, and faith lost undertakes a pre-found influence onthe soldiers’ correct understanding of happiness. Therefore, it is necessary for us to carry onan analysis and research on the happiness value of the contemporary soldiers. With theguidance of the Marxist happiness value, They can combine themselves with contemporarymilitary professional characteristics, get correct understanding of contemporary soldiershappiness value to-be, then help them overcome their all kinds of happiness confusions, tomake a fully aware of their existence value and significance as a soldier. Only in this way canthey achieve the greatest happiness, and the ideological and political education work for ourtroops development can be promoted and put forward. By empirical methods such asinterviewing, questionnaire, this thesis illustrates the present situation of the contemporarysoldiers’ happiness value, summarizes the fundamental problem and confusions of thecontemporary soldiers about happiness, and explores the causes of them, and finally putsforward some useful and efficient countermeasures and suggestions.This thesis includes four chapters.Chapter One is dealing with the analysis on basic theories about the happiness value ofsoldiers. This chapter firstly gives a monograph of the definitions on general happiness value,the happiness value of Marxism and the happiness value of soldiers. Then it illustrates thedefinition on happiness value of soldiers in details, which is contains several self-professionalcharacteristics. its content and form has a naturally intrinsic consistency with the happinessvalue of Marxism. Meanwhile, it introduces other factors related to happiness, which canprovide theoretical support for further illustration of the happiness value of soldiers, detailed analysis on its present situation and finally proposing countermeasures to it.In the second chapter, the author investigates and analyses the present situation of thehappiness value of the contemporary soldiers by methods of spot visiting, interviewing andquestionnaires. Upon these investigation and analysis, the author find that the happinessvalue of the contemporary soldiers in our nation is mostly positive and active in general,which can be illustrated specifically as followed: First, it is consistent with the mainstream ofsocial value and advocation; Second, the feeling of happiness among the soldiers has beengenerally enforcing and increasing; Third, the fellowship among soldiers has been attachedgreat importance to them; Fourth, professional achievements have been enhanced. However,there are still some problem which cannot be ignored. The first one is that there appears a"diversity" tendency in the happiness goal orientation; Second, the standards of measuringhappiness is getting increasingly utilitarian as that in our modern society; Third, the means ofpursuing happiness among soldiers in becoming greatly self-centered; Fourth, some of theofficers and soldiers have become vulgarized in their way or manners of daily life; Fifth,some of them is going down and becoming blind in the aspects of making friends; Sixth,some of the officers and soldiers has been materialistic and realistic in love and marriagevalue.Chapter Three conducts a detailed analysis on the causes of the happiness value ofcontemporary soldiers. And to solve those problem above, the author examined the socialfactors, army factors and personal factors which can influence the happiness value ofcontemporary soldiers subjectively or objectively, and then analyses the concrete causes ofthese specific problems at all round.In the fourth chapter, in order to solve the problems above, the author take an overviewof the analysis above of the influential factor on the contemporary soldiers’ happinessproblems, and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and efficient suggestions.First, it is to optimize the internal and external environment of the military camp; Second, it isto strengthen the ideological and political education, and guide them to set up the healthyhappiness value; Third, it is to invoke them to pursue noble life and cultivate their happy lifeability. With these countermeasures and suggestions, the author hopes that contemporarysoldiers can set scientific noble happiness value, realize their happy life, keep highly stabilityand sustained strong morale, enhance the cohesive force and the battle efficiency of thetroops.
