Exchanges and cooperation in education between China and Africa is an importanttheme and plays an important role in the development of the relationship between the twoparties. From the Chinese point of view,it is both an important support from China to Africaand one of the major ways of carrying out Chinese public diplomacy. Studies nowadays madeby academic circles on exchanges and cooperation in education between China and Africa aremostly aimed at the view of foreign assistance and the study on public diplomacy is relativelyless stressed on. It is to analyze in this article the future and insufficiency of the exchangeprojects of China and Africa from China aspect, and bring forward some pertinent proposals.This article is composed of3parts: introduction,text and conclusion. In the introduction,ideas of public diplomacy and functions in international education exchanges are given topoint out the development and aid of the project as well as the double nature of publicdiplomacy.In the first part of the text, the3steps of the project are given, where the main forms, theimportant achievements and lessons of each step are introduced.The second part mainly deals with5cases in the present exchange projects: thegovernment scholarship program, the Confucius Institute, the African HRD Fund, the China-African College and university20+20cooperation plan and the China-African unitedexchange program. It also analyses the following about each program: the proposal anddevelopment situation, the management and run ability, and also the function which are doneto have a general understanding of the current situation of the China-African projects.The3rdpart makes a further study the features and issues of the project, and thus putforward some attributive suggestions to strengthen China-African educational exchange andpublic diplomacy. The conclusion restates function and the significance of the program.
