Japan and Australia are two important countries in the Asia-Pacific region.Thebilateral relations affect the peace and stability of the region. There is no doubt thatJapanese is a developed country, and seeking the political status. Although Australiahas been positioned as their middle powers, we can not ignore its importance becauseof its geographical location, rich resources. World War II is a watershed in thehistory of Japan and Australia,so this article through analysing bilateral relationsduring World War II and its postwar influences, to understand the importence ofeconomic interests and national security in the foreign policy.Observing Japan’sattitude of Australia and Australia’s national interests supreme consciousness formatesprocess through a simple description of Japan’s southward advance policy andAustralian Foreign trajectory. War are having a profound impact on the early post-warperiod, and even today’s bilateral relations, so they are discussed by the author inorder to have some inspiration for todayThis paper is composed of the introduction, body and conclusion. Body part isdivided into three chapters:Chapter2discusses the development process of bilateral relations before thePacific war, mainly from three aspects:Japan and Australia established diplomaticrelations, Japan’s southward advance policy evolution, Australia discusses operationalreadiness. After the outbreak of World War II, Japan and Australia establisheddiplomatic relations is mainly based on economic interests, and Australia do not wantto take connivance policy and over-angered Japan.Thingking of their own safety,Australia is actively preparing for takeing a certain amount of economic sanctions onJapan. But ultimately they did not interrupt the bilateral relations mainly due to theeconomic interests. In short, at this stage the two sides are unwilling to provoke eachother and interrupt the relationship. Chapter3describes the bilateral relations after the outbreak of the Pacific War, inshort, that time began a decade hostile period. Firstly, the author discusses Australiaprior to protect their homeland, and declared war on Japan. Japan’s step-by-stepexpansion and providing forward the policy of "Greater East Asia”, Australia has alsobeen contained.These things come true what Australia has been worried. Resolutearmed resistance of the Australian government, actively engaged in the Sino-JapaneseWar, Japan’s determination attacks on Australia’s coastal city leading all citizens toactively resist this war. Secondly, the author will analyze the huge contribution madeby Australia in the War of Resistance against Japan during the Pacific War. On the onehand, the Royal Australian Army is directly involved in the war against Japan, thefights against Japanese’s aggression; the other is the Australian people for the allies,especially poviding military assistance, materials and labor aspects for the UnitedStates. We can not ignore the contribution made by Australia in the Pacific war.Finally, the author discusses the major role played by Australia during the late war,Australian troops prompted Japan’s surrender and occupation against Japan.Chapter4analyzes the impact of World War II of the early postwar period andtoday’s bilateral relations. Japan become the only invaded Australia homeland in itshistory, so that the Australian people can not turst Japanese. At the early postwarperiod in order to prevent the Japanese militarism, Australia adhere tough attitudetowards Japan, I firstly discussed the tough attitude of the early postwar period, andthe harsh sanctions on Japan, including actively participate in the Tokyo Trial, andtake a series of measures in the economic and tradediscrimination in Japan.Evatt’svisit to Japan in consultation with the MacArthur, indicating that their attitude forJapan, while actively seeking to establish alliance relationship with the United Statesto protect their own safety. Secondly, the special history of Australia makes itsdiplomatic attached to shift the center of gravity from the United Kingdom to theUnited States during the war. I briefly introduce its foreign development path,focusing on the transfer of United Artists, World War II anti-Japanese diplomaticcenter of gravity of the post-war Australia, U.S. factor in the development of theJapan-Australia relations is very popular in the early postwar period. Finally, the author discusses the impact of the War historical issues for today’s bilateral relations,which focused on the issue of prisoners, and Japan’s uncertain attitude of history.
