As the beginning of the 21st century, more and more industrial products from China have been even more competitive in the world market for its strong price advantage; China has been a world industry production base, which was called World Factory. We can't help thinking of Japanese World Factory 20 years ago, whose industrial products occupied so much of the international market. However, the Japanese industrial products are mainly high-tech products such as automobiles, home appliances, semiconductors and so on; while our China World Factory produces mainly those low-end products such as textiles, machine and electricity products, while high-tech products or core technology in traditional industrial products have to be imported. This is why our China World Factory does not match the reality well. How Japan, a most successful catch-up country in the world, changed from a rather backward country into a real World Factory? Will Japan's experience be applicable in the development of China World Factory? What are the enlightenments and references from that? After thinking about this question, I choose this theoretical and instructive topic as my Master degree thesis. The paper is arranged as follows:The first part reviews the development of Japan's industrialization process from Mingzhi Innovation, which was divided into two periods by the end of the Second World War. Basing on the review, I summarize the marks of Japan World Factory. The second part analyzes the causes of why Japan develops into a World Factory. From the strategic view, it is because of the success of strategies such as Heavy and Chemical Industrialization and Processing Trade; while in the policy level, industry policy plays an important role; what's more, the introduction of technology, the innovation of ways of production, and Japan style management are three sticking points in the development of Japan World Factory.I turned the view to world economy history in the third part, trying to see aboutthe development of earlier British, U.S.A. and German World Factories, hunting for basic rules on the development World Factory. Then I united these rules with Japan's World Factory, summing up the reference from that.In the fourth part, I turned back to the reality in China, analyzing the development and problems of Chinese industry from 1990's. Uniting the analysis before, I put forward the road and countermeasures we China must take in becoming the real World Factory.
