After the Meiji Restoration, Japan’s ocean policy with the surrounding islands occupied gradually revealed. Change the relationship between Japan and Australia is not only reflects the changes in Japan’s foreign policy in modern times, but also a reflection of the Japanese from the "island" to the process of transformation "maritime power" national strategy. Thus, the study of diplomatic relations between Japan and Australia in modern times not only from the grasp of modern Japan since diplomatic strategic intent of each period from one side, but also from the overall grasp of the national strategy to develop the Japanese "Extension waves thousands of miles, cloth Wong Wei overseas" Modern process.This paper attempts to analyze the literature, the formation of modern Japan and Australia to explore the relationship between the trend and diplomatic strategy behind Japan’s national and marine national strategy. Therefore, this article is mainly composed of an introduction and three parts.Firstly, the results of previous academic studies of Chinese and foreign scholars were substantially comb, and on this basis, summed up the main achievements of the past, lack of academic research and study. The first part of the study of the relationship between Japan and Australia under the framework of the Anglo-Japanese alliance, through our literature and historical exploration of Japan after the Meiji Restoration, especially the Anglo-Japanese Alliance during Japan’s foreign policy. After traces the Meiji Restoration of Japan’s foreign policy for Britain, the Anglo-Japanese Alliance signed the Anglo-Japanese Alliance and Japan as well as to participate in a war relations. On this basis discusses the relationship between Japan and Australia under the Anglo-Japanese alliance, including the exchange and cooperation between Japan and Australia Navy, Japan and Australia and on islands of Southeast Asia, Japan and Australia to compete for discussions on migration issues. The second part analyzes the relationship between Japan and Australia after the disintegration of the Anglo-Japanese alliance, namely the relationship between Japan and Australia in the mid 1920s to the 1930s. Mainly around Japan to coordinate diplomatic, economic and diplomatic relationship between Japan and Australia as well as Japan and Australia exchange envoys access to narrative. The third part of the study of the relationship between Japan and Australia before and after the outbreak of the Pacific War.
