Since World War II, for promoting, economic development, enhancing, international status and safeguarding regional peace, etc., Europe’s regional integration progress has walked ahead of the world which greatly impelled the union among European capitalist nations. The academia has explored extensive research on the positive effects as well as the radical problems of European capitalist integration, while this paper is an attempt to clear up that integration process. It starts from analyzing the factors that drive European capitalist integration, followed by the concise induction of the half-century process while analyzing its significant events. The final part of the paper highlights the problems in the development progresses, and based on Marxist perspective, it predicts the possible future of European capitalist integration. The paper is mainly divided into four parts. The first part is introduction, which illustrates the background, meaning and research methodology of European capitalist integration. It also offers an overall picture of research review from scholars home and abroad. We have seen a large number of academic researches either on European integration or the future of capitalist development, but few discussed these two areas as a combination. This is the exact contribution that this paper may create to promote the research on the issue of European capitalist integration. The second part discusses the causes and motivations of European capitalist integration from economic and political aspects respectively. For analyzing economic factors, the author adopts Marxist perspective and taps into the ultimate reason of European capitalist integration through the nature of capital expansion and the changes in capitalist mode of production. The third part shows the process of European capitalist integration and its achievements. The author particularly selects some significant events in history and analyzes their positive effects on the development of European capitalism. e.g. the establishment of European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community, European Union Market and European Union, and the birth of Euro.Part four demonstrates the problems in European capitalist integration and the potential picture of its future development. It is the highlight of the paper because the author would explore the deficiencies of European societal development which is driven by neo-liberalism, the legitimacy crisis of democracy dominated by elitism, and the outbreak of debt crisis in Europe based on Marxist interpretation. This part exposes the problems in European capitalist integration process as well as the responding measures have been taken by EU. Last but not least, the author analyzes and predicts the future of European capitalist integration from the views of Marxism.
