Adolescent is a group of great vigor and vitality in one country, today countries all overthe world pay much attention to adolescent’ ideological and political education. Mainstreamculture is an important carrier of ideological and political education, adolescent’ Ideologicaland Political Education of any country is carried out in its mainstream culturalenvironment.The United States is the largest developed country in world, and China is thelargest developing country in world, There are many differences between the United Statesand China, not only in social system,but also in the mainstream culture, so the two countrieshave also formed their own characteristics in the province of adolescent’ ideological andpolitical education. This paper attempt to develop a comparative study on contemporary Sino-US adolescent’ ideological and political education within the perspective of respectivemainstream culture.This paper is divided into six chapters: Chapter I is the introduction, first introduces theresearching background, followed by the relevant research situation and development trend inthe field, then describes the research methods. Chapter II take culture as the beginning,defined the meaning and main characteristics of mainstream culture, and analyse theformation of the concept of ideological and political education, introduces the Westernideological and political education for adolescent, then clarifies the importance of adolescent’ideological and political education, thirdly analyses the relationship between mainstreamculture and adolescent’s ideological and political education. Chapter III mainly engage incomprehensive analysis of China’s mainstream culture and the history of adolescent’sideological and political education, sorts out the mainstream culture during feudal period andthe mainstream culture during socialist period according to the historical development,respectively describe the contents of Confucian culture and socialist culture with Chinesecharacteristics; then research the historical development of Chinese adolescent’s ideologicaland political education.Chapter IV focuses on introduction to American mainstream cultureand the historical development of American adolescent’s ideological and political education,firstly indicates that Christian culture is the mainstream culture of the United States since thefounding of the nation, then the formation of Christian culture and the historical phase wereanalyzed, and finally researches American adolescent’s ideological and political educationhistory since the colonial period. Chapter V focuses on the comparion on objectives, content,methods, theories, and methods of contemporary Sino-US adolescent’s ideological andpolitical education, which is in mainstream cultural perspective, then sums up somecommonness and individuality between contemporary Sino-US adolescent’s ideological and political education.Chapter VI is the inspiration derived from contemporary Sino-USadolescent’s ideological and political education comparison.
