Textbook is the basic basis of teaching activities, teaching-reform and achieving the teaching goal.This paper centers around “A Comparison between the Two mainstream Series of Junior middle School Physics Textbooks from China and the United States”.According to the junior middle school physics curriculum standard in China and the United States, This paper analyses and compares the two sets of textbooks in the whole content,scientific method and the treatment of mathematical method.The research selectes object paper including American textbooks:“science explorer”and Chinese textbooks publishd by People’s Education Press(2012).In conclusion,the major found are as follows.1. the two sets of textbooks covered almost the same basic contents, but there are many differences in the order of arrangement.In addition, although the main content of knowledge in the two sets of textbooks is almost the same, there are slight differences in the breadth. “science explorer” pays more attention to the content in logicality and systematicness, involving high school and even university content. Chinese textbooks publishd by People’s Education Press(2012) pays more attention to developing students’ computing ability and understanding ability.2. “science explorer”takes the dominant scientific method education,but Chinese textbooks publishd by People’s Education Press(2012) taking the invisible.3.“science explorer” introduced mathematical knowledge specifically,and do some demonstration to help students in understanding andapplying it. Chinese textbooks publishd by People’s Education Press(2012) acknowledge that the students understood the related mathematical knowledge. So, the textbook had not introduced the mathematical method. This requires good coordination between physics and mathematics teachers in teaching.At last,the paper puts forward some suggestions in compiling of textbooks, preparing lessons by teachers and compiling of network teaching resources.
