The Uyghur is the minority people in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur AutonomousRegion. The Uyghur language is completely differrent from Chinese and the Uyghurculture is somewhat different from the Han Chinese culture. However some ofUyghur children, from their primary school period onwards, are studying upto theHigh school, studying in the HAN CHINESE SCHOOL, growing up under theinfluence of bilingual and bicultural context。 Now these members are calledUyghur Min Kao Han in Xinjiang.The purpose of this study is to investigate the cultural characteristics of UyghurMin Kao Han group and to speculate the trends of cultural change in the XinjiangUyghur population. The significance of this research is to explain the culturalcharacteristics of the the Uyghur Min Kao Han group, with the help of Fredrik Barth’boundary theory, sub-cultural group theory, socialization theory. Therefore theresults of this study can enrich the understanding of Bath theory diversification,subculture theory and socialization theory. And the practical significance of thefindings would be beneficial for the Uyghur parents, whose children are Min KaoHan, to understand their children’s linguistic and psychological features. And also thestudy results help teachers to understand the Uyghur Min Kao Han students in theschool. In addition to that, the results would contribute for the Uyghur Min Kao Hanand the otehers to understand each other, to achieve a harmonious society.The researcher lived in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and speciallyresearched in the field for the the six months, interviewing with45members of theUyghur Min Kao Han, surveying93members of them.The contents of this paper is as follows: The conception of Uyghur Min KaoHan groups, introduction to Fredrik Barth’s boundary theory, subculture theory,socialization theory, researching in the field to collect data and questionnaire data,explain the Uyghur people considering of the the other’s group culture, the ‘other’sunderstanding of the characteristics of the Uyghur Min Kao Han, culturalcharacteristics of the socialization of Min Kao Han subculture group.The results of this study indicate that, like Barth’s boundary theory, Uyghur MinKao Han is just the “ethnic internal” subculture group. Although they accepted a lotof “ethnic external” cultural influences, and the Uyghur Min Kao Han groups have avariety of interactive exchanges with other groups, causing the Uyghur Min Kao Han groups’ cultural changes, and even happened individuals and some people’s identitydiversity, However these results will not waver in their ethnic identity, still maintaintheir ethnic identity."Uyghur Min Kao Han" is a subculture group of Uyghur society.The results of this study also showed that the Uyghur Min Kao Han groups is indual socialization process. From primary school onwards, they grow under theinfluence of bilingual and bicultural. After graduation from high school or college,they also process dual socialization, one for the Uyghur culture; they try to learn thelanguage and culture.
