Under the foreign teaching reform, this research intends to implement theconcepts and principles of elementary curriculum reform fully in teaching practice, tosummarize, refer and adopt related excellent research and advanced experience athome and aboard meeting one core concept, Language is acquisitive instead of beingtaught, on target of cultivating and prompting our primary students’preview habitsand competence when the student learn English. It investigates the current situationand critical problems about primary students’preview habits and competencedeeply based on the theoretical analysis. It anatomizes the causes, results and effectsthat come from above investigation, researches the responding teaching case andindividual case, and finally further puts forward teaching suggestions in order toimprove the students’awareness of previewing in English learning, make them ownthis habits and ability.Several research methods are adopted by the author, e.g. literature review,questionnaire, action research, observation research and comparative research.Firstly, beginning with the background under the current situation, develop andpromote the curriculum reform at the same time, the purpose, significance andinnovation are cleared from the perspective of improving the teaching efficiency inclass and construct the efficient classes highly. After having reviewed and summarizedrelevant domestic studies, illustrated the methods and thoughts of this research, someresponding concepts are defined necessarily.Secondly, many useful thesis, paper and theories are collected. This research isbased on some related theories that are inducted after learning carefully.Thirdly, the status quo of the preview custom and competence the students ownis investigated and researched through questionnaires and face to face interviews inorder to grasp accurately and develop analyses on causes of those problems.Next, according to the problems and causes, the research is carried out from theaspect of specific methods that are instructed, and some teaching fragments andreflections, etc. The specific methods include the preview methods that are taught, the homework that is layout, individuals that are instructed, evaluations that are effectiveand the personalized preview contents are designed by the students.Then, the Experiment Class and the Control Class are chosen. A pretest wasconducted, and the result processed by means of SPSS19.0 shows that the 42 studentsin the Experiment Class are at the same level of their exam scores as the other 42students in the Control Class at the beginning of the experiment. After the recentexamination, a posttest was performed. It indicates that the examination scores of theEG is significantly higher than that of the CG, after applying to cultivate the previewhabits and competence in English learning for almost one year, other things beingequal.The conclusion above is to say, it is effective to cultivate the preview custom andcompetence of English learning for primary school students, but there are also somelimitations existed.
