Extracurricular reading is very important to Primary students’physical and mentalhealth .The new Chinese curricular standard formulated by the Administration of Educationhas set clear requirements of extracurricular reading of Primary school students.“MarchThousands Miles and Read Thousands Books”. The value to the developments of Primarystudents from extra-curricular reading has gone beyond the scope of the subject ofChinese .Extra-curricular reading could not only help students increase knowledge andexpand horizon but also enrich the experience and enhance the wisdom of the students anddiscipline temperament ,improve the comprehensive qualities of the students .However, in reality, due to the factors such as society, school and family, there are largeparts among Primary school students of different areas, which obviously is not good for therealization of the fairness of education. In view of this, this study has conductedinvestigations on the interests of students of cities, urban and rural, in the hope of finding thedisparities among the three, providing some help for narrowing the disparities andimproving the situation of extra-curricular reading of the primary students.This paper mainly includes three parts: the first part is the investigation on the interestsof extra-curricular reading of the cities and rural, in which I deploy the analysis of thesituation of the cities, urban and rural. Based on the analysis, I made deep comparisonamong the three.The second part is the analysis of the reasons of situation of the disparities. In this part, I focus on the reasons of disparities among the cities, urban and rural from the aspects ofsociety, schools and families.The third part is the advice for narrowing the disparities among cities, urban and rural,and improving the situation of extra-curricular reading of the primary students. I offer myspecific advice for the consideration of the schools and teachers such as culturing goodreading habits and optimizing the contents of extra-curricular reading.
