The Research Of "beibingliangbiao" In The City Of Yuncheng,shanxi Province

"BeiBingLiangBiao", also known as "carry the ice, show thebody", is a special folk activity peculiar in ChangWang Village ofYongJi County and KeHe Village of RuiCheng County. This paperfocuses on its generation and evolution and has a diachronicanalysis of its attached community fire and temple ceremony withthe relevant theories of folklore, anthropology, sociology and otherdisciplines. In this paper, I try to present the local people’s lives andtheir collective memories. In addition, that the folk culturalconnotation as well as the discourse right about it has beenanalyzed in the thesis.The paper is divided into three parts: the Introduction, MainBody and Conclusion. The Introduction contains the purpose andsignificance of the writing, data sources and research methods,research status. Moreover, it is an interpretation of the birthplaceof humanitarian and geographical environment. The part of MainBody is composed of three chapters. Chapter One systematicallyintroduces the generation and evolution of "BeiBingLiangBiao". Inthis Chapter, the legend of "BeiBingLiangBiao"is classified andillustrated. The origin and historical evolution are held longitudinalinquiry. Chapter Two studies the ritual display. With the methods of field research, community fire and the temple ceremony attached to"BeiBingLiangBiao" are well discussed, the function and role in thedomain of two fields as well as the agricultural activities itreflected are studied. Chapter Three examines the folks’ lives andcollective memories. The folk cultural connotation and thediscourse right about it are researched. "BeiBingLiangBiao" isrelated to the local people’s production and living activities. It is afolk activity with regional characteristics and has a rich folk cultureconnotation. The conclusion part is the summary of this paper. Inthis part, I propose that "BeiBingLiangBiao" is an integral part ofthe folks’ cultural life. This game can be a unique way to savevillagers’ collective memories.The in-depth study of "BeiBingLiangBiao" will not only contribute tothe traditional cultural heritage and development, but theaccumulation of the HeDong (the region of eastern Yellow River)cultural history, the research of Yellow River Valley civilization andculture of China can be benefited from it.
