| Gerhard Casper is the nineteenth president of Stanford. He has done an excellentjob in leading Stanford steadily forward. During his eight years tenure, he hascontributed a lot to Stanford by forming many proper ideas and practicing some ofthese ideas. Of course Stanford has made much progress under his management.During his tenure, many ideas has been put forward, for example, emphasizing onboth teaching and researching; insisting on academic freedom; encouragingmulti-culture; serving the public, etc. In addition, he has also carried out manyeffective activities, such as, setting up special agency to guarantee the undergraduateteaching; subsidizing the graduates through various ways; implementing“blindneededâ€recruiting strategies, etc. All of these are very effective and have a positiveimpact on the university’s development. This paper mainly research Gerhard Casper’suniversity idea and management using method of literature and experiencesummarization so as to obtain significant experiences to help our universities rapidlymove forward.The paper is consisted of five parts:The first part: Introduction.
