Since the formal implementation of the new curriculum reform in September2004, various versions of the new curriculum materials come out one after another, showing a flourishing gesture. Which one should school choose from the many versions of textbooks? So, we need to understand the similarities and differences of them by comparing the characteristics of the different versions of textbooks, and then according to their situation, like the level of teachers, the usual learning and teaching methods to select the appropriate materials. On the other hand, as a new phenomenon the version of teaching materials must have their imperfections, in order to promote the development of the material and curriculum reform, it is necessary to study of the various versions of teaching materials, then we can correct the errors and comprehensive the advantages of various teaching materials, to show better quality materials.At present, the domestic study of the new curriculum materials largely confined between the compulsory textbook series, involving fewer elective series of textbooks, especially elective series3and4. In view of the status quo, this paper will study the elective series in thematic sphere geometry textbook. In this paper, the author used4methods to study the sphere geometry textbook in version of Beijing Normal University press and A version of People’s Education Press. The4method is a literature analysis, comparative analysis, statistical analysis and case analysis.In this paper, the study about the two editions of textbooks are divided into the following two aspects:(1) comparison of the surface content. The surface content is presented in the textbooks written content, including the part of the teaching materials, structural systems, as well as exercises, It is include the three aspects of a comparative analysis in this paper.(2) comparison of the deep content. Deep content contains the purpose of teaching materials as well as writers advocated teaching methods, learning styles. This article is the comparison of the deep content of the textbooks from these three elements of knowledge, capacity factors and emotional attitudes elements.The article also carried out in addition to the two editions of textbooks related to thinking, knowledge and difficult to solve, teaching resources issues. In addition, the author also put forward her views and solutions for imperfections in the materials, for example, strict proof of the distance on the sphere between two points, which is also an innovative and benefits in this article.
