New Curricular Standards request teachers to emphasize on cultivating students’studying positively and passionately during practical teaching process, as well asmake students master the studying methods and improve their learning ability duringtheir school educational stage. In response to this call, most of the frontline teachersdevelop and implement a series of teaching practice and theory innovation ofautonomous learning. Although these theories and practices have emphasized theimportance of self-study, the design of the curriculum, teaching strategies and themodel of the application are still based on the teachers’ own thought. As the mainsection of teaching process, students whose individual personality and emotionalneeds are different from one to another, are concerned little about their practical needs.Meanwhile, the main educational place is the classroom. The different academicenvironment of the classroom will have different effects on teacher’s teaching andstudents’ learning. Based on these two points, this article will investigate studentsrealistic needs on classroom environment as self-study to discuss this research.This thesis will first sort previous literatures, and then interview on the teachersand students in key high schools which take part in self-study and have a highexpectations in it, then summarize the characteristics of self-study class in their mind.After that, let’s take biology class as an example. First, making a survey as per thesecharacteristics, investigating the teachers and students in high school about thissubject, comparing their experiences and class features described in the questionnaireand then mark the scores. Through analysis of the scores, find some subjects with bigdifferences. Then look into the reasons of these differences, and give somesuggestions for the teachers who are doing these activities.This is the structure of thesis as following:Chapter Ⅰ will mainly introduces the background, the purposes and meanings of researching, and the definitions of the related concepts regarding this study.Chapter Ⅱ will sort the literature on student’s self-study and the activeatmosphere in classroom,Chapter Ⅲ:on the basis of last chapter, do questionnaires survey on both theteachers and students who are in common high schools as well as key high schools, soas to find out the gaps between ideal class features and realistic class features andmake some analysis.Chapter Ⅳ:come up with some constructive suggestions aimed at the existedproblems for further researches.
