Virtual reality technology applied in sports training improves the level of scientific training and sport competitiveness effectively. Modern sports demand more science and technology, grasping the internal rules of sports by systematic and quantitative approaches. This thesis makes use of virtual reality technology to create virtual reality scenes of ping-pong, and upon which the movement features of ping-pong are studied, achieving a quantitative mastering of its essential principle. The main work includes:1. 3D modeling and dynamical modeling. According to the shape dimension, evolving table, bat, ball, net, etc, and the inherent characteristics, such as spring and friction, a 3D modeling is established. The impacts of Gravity, Air resistance and Magnus force on trajectory are studied, and a dynamic model is established.2. Establishing simulation platform. On the basis of the dynamical modeling, the thesis analyzes the ODE and the characteristics of ping-pong, building an ODE-based platform for simulation. Furthermore, the performances of the platform, such as accuracy, stability and real-time, are analyzed, as well as the influence of simulation step size.3. The accuracy of ping-pong virtual reality scene is evaluated by experiments. Based on the platform four kinds of ping-pong movement trajectory are modeled and analyzed.The verification experiments demonstrate the correctness of the simulation platform of ping-pong in this thesis. And the research about the moving features of ping-pong accords with the objective rules. It provides a stable experimental platform for the further research work.
