Research On The Media Image Of Chinese Ping-pong Players Since 1949

In China,table tennis players have always been a group of public concern,and also an important subject of media coverage.The Media image of table tennis players shows relatively evident social,historical and cultural characteristics,which are closely related with the statism,nationalism,heroism,consumerism,humanism and other aspects.Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949,the media has constructed the image of ping-pong players for nearly 70 years,including traditional media and new media.It clearly presents the media selection and media tendency of China within different historical periods in terms of politics,economy,culture and diploma.Based on the general overview of the media image of Chinese table tennis players and its evolutional elements,from the longitudinal angle of time development,the article deeply differentiates and analyzes the concrete connotation of media image construction in three historical periods,which are the media appeals of national fitness' and'national identity',the media writing of rebels'and 'overseas corps',the media image of web celebrity ping-pong'.Finally,it ends with the reflection on the media image construction of ping-pong players,in the form of three transmission links,which are'appropriate match performance','rational communication,avoid myth construction',and 'strengthen self-media guidance,improve aesthetic sense',to provide the contemporary media with some inspirational value for constructing the media image of Chinese sports athletes,spreading the cultural connotation of Chinese sports and highlighting the humanistic care of entertainment in depth.
