The vocabulary is construction materials of the language, or the vocabulary is thelife of language. British linguist Wilkins said: "There is no syntax for people to expressthings.Very few vocabulary can not express anything .”It’s visible to see theimportance of words.According to the English curriculum standards, junior high schoolgraduates should learn 3000 words and 400-500 idioms or fixed collocation. But aconsiderable part of the student’s vocabulary is far short of this requirement, so theirinterest and enthusiasm of learning English are directly influenced.Large amount of students, coupled with poor student self-control, have become aheadache for teachers to organize teaching. Decision on the basis of educationalreform and development issued by the State Department on May 29, 2011 pointed out“encourage cooperative learning, promote exchanges and common developmentbetween teachers and students, the promotion of teachers and students both teachingand learning.”This requires us to change the current examination teacher educationunder competition for the mainstreams of the old mode of education, to establish astudent-centered cooperation and competition for the mainstream development ofstudents’ learning autonomy and initiative of the new teaching model. Comprehensivereform of China in the last ten years is on all levels of English teaching .With theconstant depth of the curriculum reform,“cooperative learning”has become thehighlight of classroom teaching, advocacy and use for the majority of teachers.Then how to make a strong interest in students to memorize words, and theinterest to be persistent and thus transform into a motivation to learn in large classesteaching? Therefore, improving teaching methods and taking various forms, flexiblemethods of vocabulary teaching are necessary. The experimental purpose of the formof group cooperation is to explore the large class of high school students Englishvocabulary learning in a new type of cooperative learning mode , so as to improveEnglish vocabulary learning situation , to improve the accuracy of lexical memory ,and thus to improve teaching effectiveness , remove obstacles for students’ long-term development .Cooperative learning in this thesis is used primarily for high school studentsEnglish vocabulary learning phase of consolidation. I think that high school Englishvocabulary cooperative learning should be based on the cooperative activities of themembers of the group as the main body, reached for the standard group goal, thegroups overall performance evaluation and reward, together to achieve the teaching ofEnglish learning goals. Its meaning contains the following levels: the formation of theJoint Working Group on English vocabulary; team of co- learning model of Englishvocabulary; team of co- evaluation of English vocabulary. Students in classes five andsix, Grade three of Yiqiao Middle School become the test object . Flights for theexperimental class , take the way of co-teaching vocabulary teaching , and Six as thecontrolled class in the total score of the average English to be very close and studentgender ratio is almost the same , still using the traditional teaching method of learningvocabulary. In the study, I used tests and questionnaires to collect data. Two classes ofstudents before and after the experiment both had the Grade Two Vocabularythoroughly test and half of the semester in the third grade vocabulary test. And theyhave the same test time and the same weight of the score.Comparison of the two testresults proved : large classes in junior high school to learn English vocabulary in acooperative manner changed the heavy glossary and isolated word traditional teachingmethods;the effect of cooperative learning English vocabulary is superior than thetraditional teaching methods.After the survey of the experimental stage , we can seethat the students’sense of cooperation has been improved because students get morepractice opportunities for cooperation and exchange , they experience the happiness oflearning progress,thus gaining the upper hand of the self-confidence , enthusiasmhigher , and its capacity for independent study has also been improved .
