The experimental subject of this paper are 40 female juniors of Jilin Universityaged between 19 to 23 who are interested in ballroom dancing but not major inphysical science. This research endeavors to provide suggestions for those ballroomdancing lovers by comparing the variation of physical fitness before and after 8months of ballroom dancing exercises and discussing the influence of ballroomdancing on physical fitness.This research mainly used the method of experimental measurement to surveythe body shapes, heart rate, body composition, reaction rate, power of gripping, backstrength, vertical jump, flexibility, balance keeping, 1min sit-ups, vital capacity,VO2max (maximal oxygen uptake relative value), and MVV (the maximumventilation volume) of the 40 female students before and after the exercise andcompared the result of the two test.The result is as follows: The power of gripping, the back strength did not changeobviously; the vital capacity, VO2max, MVV, and the balance ability improved; thepeaceful heart rate reduced; Vertical jump ability enhanced; the body shape, thereaction rate, flexibility improved to a certain extent.Through the experiment and the contrastive analysis, this paper obtained theconclusion: a long time ballroom dancing exercise can improve the universitystudent’s body shape and influence several physiological index; can promote bodycomposition, muscle condition, and cardiopulmonary function; has a positive effecton human body’s reaction rate, balance ability and the flexibility, thus the validity ofballroom dancing exercise to body health has been proven.
