Research On The Coupling Of Emei Martial Arts And Local Tourism

Originated from Mount Emei, which is famous for its combination of Buddhism,Taoism and Confucianism culture, the Emei martial arts, rooting in Sichuan area and absorbing the essence of the all martial arts parties, is one part of the "Mount Emei-Leshan Giant Buddha World Natural and Cultural Heritage". To promote the development of both Emei martial arts and local tourism, and provide a theoretical support to their planning and inheritance, research on the coupling of them is quite necessary. At the same time, figuring out the chanllenges Emei martial arts and local tourism are faced with is a good way to provide reference and practical foundation for the reaearch.To identify the problems and constraints to the development of Emei martial arts and the local tourism, with the hope to work out the solution to such challenges, literature review, expert interviews, questionnaires and logical analysis, togher with the comprehensively theoretical and statistics analysis have been used in this paper to study the relations between martial arts and tourism.1. The survey conductedby the author shows that the combination of Buddhism, Taoism and confucinism culture makes Emei martial arts mysterious, and the rich cultural heritage increases its attraction to outside visitors, however, the uneven development of its own, lacking of strategic objectives and systematic genre, Emei martial arts interested just4.17%of the total respondents, which means that, the martial arts tour did not arouse much concern, and in consequence, which even brings some adverse factors to the development and coupling of Emei martial arts and other industries.2. the Survey aslo shows that Tourism in EmeiShan City develops well. Although the average level of tourism consumption and residence time in Emeishan City have not been satisfactory, there is still a relatively stable source markets and tourist groups, with its existed, mature tourism products and thriving recreational trend, which has been recognized by59.38%of the respondents.3. The contribution made by Emei martial arts to the development of local tourism is still relatively small, and the coupling between them are not enough yet both in depth and breadth, only12.5%of the respondents hold that the development of Emei martial is an effective way arts to enhance the image of Emei’s tourism. Tourists at Mount Emei Scenic Area are mainly for relaxation, pilgrimage and business, who aim in particular to the entertainment. Martial arts products, including culture shopping, souvenirs purchasing and something like, have not yet get a full development, the so-called characteristic martial arts tourism is still in a embarassing state.4. Solutions to the combination between Emei martial arts and local tourism development strategies consist of the absorbing of the ethnic characteristics in Sichuan area, the development of Emei Martial Arts products, presenting the shining points of Emei Martial Arts culture; taking full advantage of the natural and ecological environment of Mount Emei, building the fitness image of Emei martial arts; setting up bases for the talents and inheritating the Emei martial arts; paying market efforts in all aspects and building brand recognition of Emei martial arts tourism; and finally, focusing on Mountain Emei-Leshan Giant Buddhascenic spot’s overall development and protection in the double inheritance context.
