Players using one-hand backhand has been few recently in the ATP top ten and even fewer in China. The aim of this study is to compare the key factors of winning on two types of backhand as well as the technique and tactical characteristics executed by Roger Federer and other one-hand backhand players, Moreover, this study strive to explain generally why some one-hand backhand players fall behind in terms of ranking through statistics and as a results be offered as feedback to coaches and players.The method of reference checking, video analysis and statistics was executed in this study. Six double-hand backhand and six one-hand backhand top players was examed base on the ATP ranking on May2011. their match video were analyzed and conclusion are reached as below:(1) Players with double-hand backhand and Federer have a much higher2nd serve point won than others with one-hand backhand. On service games won and break points saved, Federer was higher than other one-hand backhand.(2) On point won returning2nd serve, break point converted and return games won, those with double-hand backhand tend to have higher percentage than those with one-hand backhand. It therefore lead to the conclusion that double-hand backhand players have better defense.(3) The usage and efficacy of forehand, volley and drop shot plays important role in wining for one-hand backhand player. While for the double-hand backhander, the usage and efficacy of baseline forehand and backhand is more important. Therefore, double-hand backhander tend to be baseliner generally and one-hand backhander tend to be all-court players.(4) The score contribution rate of the stage of serve-catch and the stage of offense-defense’tactics have greater contribution for one-hand backhander than double-hand backhander. Double-hand backhand player have better consistence.(5) Federer has77.5%positive attacking points out of all the points winning while other one-hand backhand have an average of56.9%. federer win more points at the baseline than any other one-hand backhanders.(6) Federer has greater point wining out of serve-return and baseline game after serve in win than loss. Federer win the game out of serve and return, while other one-hand backhand wining out of baseline game.
