It is a common phenomenon that there are always slow students in the class during theteaching of English. It is not a easy thing for teachers to teach them English well. This paperfocuses on the slow students in middle school in the Weifang city and tries to survey thereasons why the slow students come into being. The aim of this paper is to find some ways toturn them into excellent students and to explore the good ways to improve them so that theycan learn English well and serve the society better in the future.In the process of writing this paper, many articles about slow students have beencollected and analyzed through reading the literature related to the slow students. In thecourse of the teaching of English, the reasons for the formation of the slow students have beensurveyed and analyzed in order to provide the materials of concrete evidence and analyticalbasis for figuring out the effective countermeasures of the slow students. The talks betweenslow students and the English teacher as well as the visit to the parents have led to the deepunderstanding about the formation of slow students.The paper includes six parts. The first part is to bring forward the question, point out thedefinition of the slow students, and propose the research objects, methods and tools; thesecond part is a review at home and abroad. It introduces the research of the slow students ofboth domestic and foreign; the third part is the junior middle school students with learningdifficulties in English learning and analysis of cause of formation. This part focuses on theunderstandings of the English learning situation and questionnaire survey; the fourth partanalyzes the formation of the slow students in city and it provides a case analysis; the fifthpart attempts to explore specific transformation strategy and effectiveness of the juniormiddle school students with learning difficulties in English, including strengthening theparent-child communication, close cooperation between home and school, teachers’ changingeducation concept, the improvement of their own quality; the sixth part of this thesis is theconclusion, summarizes the full paper; it points out the value of research and the futureresearch prospects.Through the research, there is deep understanding about the formation of the slowstudents and the aim will be clear about the transformation of the slow students. It is believedthat the slow students will finally become good students through the teacher’s guiding and instruction as well as their own efforts.
