In recent years, the phenomenon of moral behavior anomie incollege has frequently appeared, which has close relation with theserious practice lack or inadequate of the ideological and politicaleducation in universities. Moral construction and moral education arefacing serious challenges. To solve the problems above, this paperstudies the function that service learning improves moral practice andsocial development, to expect to have reference and inspiration to solvethe problems。"Service learning" is education idea or education pattern that grewup in the1980’s, which is empirical study featuring with interaction andreflection, whose purpose is to set "service" content into teaching, tocombine the theory with the practice organically, and to put professionalstudy and community service together intensely, which is to make thestudent to be the main body. Practice has proved that service learning canobviously enhance the students’ moral practice, improve the moralquality, and promote the social development of university students.This paper not only theoretical deeply analyses the positive role ofthe service learning in moral practice and social development of collegestudents, but also employs questionnaire surveys that show that servicelearning has the obvious position in promoting moral practice and social development from the perspective of positivism. Finally, in order toincrease the level of ideological and political education in college, andto improve the teaching effect, this paper gives some suggestions,which come from enlightenment of the moral education function,according to developmental stage of service learning.
