The development of the rural society is the most import aspect in the process ofmodernization of China. During the period of transformation, the rural societies just like agreat laboratory for observing the social changes. Village as a specific living space, not onlyis an actual existence of the most stable space-time in rural broad areas and historicaltransition, but also is the social organism for dynamic function and cultural heritage in theinternal interaction process. More fundamentally, the rural lifestyle and cultural traditionsrepresent the tradition of Chinese history. Any subtle changes display the expansion ofmodernity in rural society. So the change of the rural society is actually a profoundmovement.Under the background of process of agricultural modernization, the research made afield survey of Yang Village community with qualitative research method from theperspective of agricultural technology. Based on a whole village community, the researchusing the theory of the structure and function (AGIL function mode) expatiated what a rolethe agricultural technology played in village community changes from microcosmic tomacroscopic level, according to the logic of agricultural technology’s development andoperation mechanism. The society system is divided into four sub-systems, such as theeconomy (A), politics (G),integration (I) and culture and motivation (L).The agriculturaltechnology of the L system promotes the primary system to changing and to restructuring inorder to maintain the balance of the new system, with the interaction of other A G、I system. The results showed that: with the development of agricultural technology, the villagers beganto have the process of personal modernization, they transforming from the identity into theoccupation, having a further occupational differentiation, and their values had somemodernization characteristics. In the family, the division of labor and the distribution ofpower changed, women began to participate in decision-making of family affairs, therelationship between husband and wife became equal. The economic structure of the villagestarted to readjust, the mode of production tended to modernization and marketization, andthe daily life of villagers was becoming more modernistic. The agricultural technology was the main impetus of Yang village change, whereas thegovernment and the market were also important influence factors. That the change of Yangvillage is not a theory or ideology unilateral implement, nor a government policy of unilateral implementation process, but is the villagers’ production and living activities respondingpositive and construction process. In this process, agricultural technology and rural societyformed the mutual relationship. Villagers’ practice consciousness and reflective actionposed their rational ideas, which challenges Scott’s viewpoint about the traditional farmer’s"survival ethics" However, among the relationship of the government, the market and thetechnology, the fate of the village community was uncertain, so the agriculture, countrysideand the famers were still in the vulnerable position. Therefore, only under the governmentsocial service system, following the market’s regularization, depending on the powerful forceof agricultural technology, transforming into the endogenous development, could Yangvillage run further by the wave of modernization.China has many different kinds of villages, and the researches about these villages havetheir particularities. So we put the specific study of some villages into the type of research forthe whole villages through typology method. Thus, what we find a point of integrationbetween the local knowledge and the whole society knowledge can reflect the trajectories, experiences and inspirations of Chinese villages’ changes. We expect the research to be ableto provide some new perspectives or experiences to make some contribution to the wholeresearch of rural society changes.
