With the rapid development of urbanization in China, a large number of rural residents have turned to urban residents and settled down in urban communities. They have made a significant contribution to the social and economic construction in our country. However, due to difference of urban-rural dual structure, culture, customs, and values, etc., this change from "agricultural to non-agricultural" status has produced many contradictions, including conflict event, unharmonious matters that are great challenges to the community construction. Therefore, eliminating cultural differences caused by urban-rural dual structure and making the large number of residents "urbanized" and truly integrated into the urban life depend on the cultivation and promotion of the community attachment. At first, this paper presents theories related to community attachment and change from "agricultural to non-agricultural" status, on the basis of which this paper gives definitions of several concepts, that is, community, non-agricultural residents changed from rural residents, non-agricultural community and community attachment.According to previous research, questionnaire method and interviewing method are determined as research method for investigation in this paper.Five basis assumptions are proposed for the research in the thesis. After questionnaire design and with communities along Mingjiang River, Yibin, Sichuan Province, as an example, questionnaires on community attachment in non-agricultural residents changed from agricultural residents have been issued to them and interviews have been conducted.Through field investigation of those communities, knowing the status quo of community attachment of those non-agricultural residents, including interpersonal relationship, community satisfaction, community participation, etc., this paper firstly analyzes characteristics of residents in non-agricultural communities, then digs into factors having an impact on community attachment, quantizes data obtained from questionnaire survey and individual interviews, dissects by means of SPSS 17.0 (a statistical software), and finds out relationship between the above-mentioned factors and community attachment, and finally clarifies the importance of community attachment. Results from empirical research in this paper indicate that community attachment in non-agricultural residents changed from rural residents is relatively high on the whole. However, after comparative analysis on community attachment in people from different non-agricultural communities, it is found that community attachment has a relatively weak relation to gender and degree of education, but a strong relation to age and monthly income. On the basis of regression of factor model on the community attachment, it is obtained that community satisfaction is the most critical factor influencing community attachment among those non-agricultural residents, secondly are interpersonal relationship and community participation, andindividual factors have little impact on community attachment. Finally, based on results from empirical analysis and specific problems found during investigation and survey, this paper proposes strategies to strengthen community attachment among non-agricultural residents changed from rural ones.Specifically speaking, that is to intensify community organization building and community culture construction, cultivate sense of community, enhance community participation, etc.
