The General Education in USA is leading the international level, so the research of the General Education in each university is voluminous. The topic of these articles is essence of General Education to its dregs, summed up a kind of mode of General Education suiting for put into practice in our country. Although the General Education in Harvard and Chicago University has actual effect and the characteristics of General Education are distinct, the researches about the two universities are nothing new and sterile. In a word, choosing the Princeton University which is one of the Ivy League is as the research target of this article. The article is about the historical gradual progress of General Education, the idea of General Education and curriculum content in Princeton University. At the result of the research, consulting something is good for the university in our country and combining these with our practice so that forming a mode of General Education with our own characteristics.There are four chapters in the paper. Chapter one is prolegomenon introducing the background and method of the research and summarizing the research achievement of related topics by other scholars at home and abroad, and giving specific definitions to some concepts resembling the General Education.Chapter two introduces the gradual progress of Princeton University that is a religious school turned into a modern integrated university where there are mature modes of General Education. It focus on different kinds of modes of General Education in each period among the whole of USA history, and the master as soul acting core effect on the implementer progress of General Education, then those professors and teachers praising highly General Education against the general trend.Chapter three is focus on the research of General Education in Princeton University. The main content is the research of the idea of Generation Education, curriculum content, and to summarize the features of the General Education in Princeton University.Chapter four is conclusion that is after researched advantages and disadvantages of General Education requirement in Princeton University summing up a series of revelation are propitious to carry out General Education in our universities. There are four parts in this chapter:making the essence of General Education clearly in university; bringing up General Education professors; in the progress of seeing out General Education curriculum target, the concrete measures of branching out curriculum; and the administration should be required what qualities are and how to do when they promote the operation of General Education. From these important factors in each university, recounting concrete measures that how to exploit Princeton university’s advantages to the full in our universities.
