Under the instruction of the teacher,students acquiring and usingknowledge via way of resembling scientific research,is called researchlearning,an attempt of Curriculum Reform in Elementary Education.Research learning is not only a learning pattern, but also aneducational idea,a teaching strategy and method. It either can be setas an independent curriculum,or adopted in other subject teaching. InChina,the integration with subject teaching is a fundamental way tocarried out research learning effectively. Art teaching is an importantpart of aesthetic education in school, in which the implementation ofresearch learning is playing a substantial roll in fostering students’qualities.In21th century,the idea of vocational education curriculum reformhas been shifted from skill-oriented to ability-oriented,and finally toquality-oriented. It breaks the limit of skill and ability,improves students’professional qualities in all aspects,such as scientific level、humanityquality,living ability,thus making them overall developed. Teachers invocational school should guide students to acquire the ability ofupdating their knowledge as well as professional skills. Researchlearning lays emphasis on students’ change of learning method andtheir development of innovative spirit and practical ability,which isexactly in keeping with the purpose of Curriculum Reform in ElementaryEducation.Based on the theory at home and abroad and the experience fromexperimental schools,author carried out research learning in the teachof Art Appreciation in vocational school,trying not only to improvestudents’ learning abilities and their comprehensive qualities,but alsoto promote teachers’ change of teaching ideas and behaviors andimprove their professional qualities. Carrying out research learning in vocational school has two unique characters. First, it should beadapted to students’ knowledge level and their majors,therefore,making it a must to choose the appropriate teaching materials and bewell organized. Second,it should be integrated with students’ socialexperience, provide them with more opportunities, broaden theirhorizons,open their eyes to the beauty in their lives. Develop students’abilities during the process of studying and solving problems bythemselves, cultivate their social and professional skills throughcooperation and teamwork.This paper introduces the application of research learning in artteaching mainly on three aspects: the design of teaching content,process and evaluation. During these three courses,author combinedteaching with learning,theory with practice,content with major,guided students to solve problems found in their lives and learn from it,encouraged them to acquire the abilities of learning,practicing andliving.
