As an economic center? Shanghai’s tennis sport has also witnessed the rapiddevelopment. Besides, the tennis programs in colleges in Shanghai also come out infront. However, as for curriculum design, implementationf supporting hardwareand sotfware facilities, there is still a long way to go. Now the gap between therequirements for the development of tennis in colleges and the students’ needs for itis increasingly widening. Specifically, the pirncipal contradictions in thedevelopment of tennis lie in the setting of course goals> content, teaching methodsand evaluation modes. Therefore, how to solve these contradictions has become animpotrant topic in the management of colleges and universities in Shanghai.By document literature, questionnaires> expert interviews and mathematicalstatistical method, etc> the paper studies the tennis courses in some of colleges inShanghai to figure out and analyze the existing problems in tennis courses incolleges, so as to make recommendations accordingly and improve tennis coursesin colleges and universities. Atfer a series of researches*the author has drawnseveral conclusions: on the one hand, some tennis courts in colleges in Shanghaican meet the requirements of teaching, while some colleges have less tennis courtsand fail to fully meet the demands of students in respect of tennis teachers. Therefore, the colleges should increase the training of teachers and introduce more excellenttennis teachers. On the other hand, the tennis courses have gone really well in theform of elective course f compulsory course and the co-existence of two modes. Inaddition*the tennis sport is popular and some colleges have set up the school teamand tennis society, but there are relatively few competitions. Thirdly, the overallplanning on tennis courses in some colleges and universities is less rigorous andscientiifc, and on the aspect of course objectives, textbooks, teaching content, teaching time, type of organization and curriculum evaluation, the colleges areunable to meet the needs of students and are incompetent to reflect the subjectivityof students. What’s more, students’ knowledge on tennis and extra-curricular participation is not satisfactory, so colleges should devote greater efforts to helpingstudents to participate in tennis activities. Fifthly, the researches on tennis coursesin colleges and universities are superifcial and unsubtle. For this reason? theresearches and studies on tennis course should be more meticulous and deep-going.
