In the new century of knowledge-based economy and informationglobalization, vocabulary learning strategy in foreign languageteaching is indispensable to the improvement of learning efficiencyand development of learning ability. Application of vocabularylearning strategies contributes to language acquisition and canimprove the efficiency of vocabulary learning. Combined with theEnglish vocabulary learning in junior middle schools and the presentsituation of students vocabulary learning, the author reviews theliterature research on vocabulary learning strategies at home andabroad. By taking interviews, observation and conducting aquestionnaire, the author tries to understand and give an analysis ofstudents vocabulary learning conceptions and the application ofEnglish learning strategies in junior high schools. The study shows that theuse of vocabulary learning strategy is very limited and there is asignificant difference in the application of vocabulary learningstrategies between excellent students and average students.How to optimize the use of vocabulary learning strategies andimprove students’ vocabulary learning efficiency, first of all, it may startwith the changing conceptions in teachers’ teaching and students’learning. In the background of the New Century English textbooks, theauthor makes further application of vocabulary learning strategies.Through a series of case studies on vocabulary learning strategies, theauthor attempts to help students develop effective and correctvocabulary learning strategy to advance the application of Englishvocabulary learning strategies. Scientific vocabulary strategy training isdone to help students enhance their vocabulary learning strategiesand the efficiency of vocabulary learning in the language acquisition.Vocabulary learning is a complex process and meanwhile vocabulary learning strategies belong to the subjective mental process.Nevertheless, in vocabulary learning, teachers’ infiltration andcultivation on learning strategies will still enable students to foster theiractive learning and better their vocabulary learning process.
