HPS (History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science) is a new kind of scientific education course of teaching mode advocated by science education specialists who are guided by the thought of constructivism. HPS or HPS teaching mode requires the incorporation of some contents from History, Philosophy and Sociology of science into the science education of middle school, and the chemistry education in middle school is an important part of science education. Integrated the HPS contents into the middle school chemistry curriculum, it can enhance the penetration of scientific concepts, promote students’understanding of the nature of science, and it is conducive to the cultivation of students’scientific literacy. The survey found that middle school chemistry teachers are short of using and under-standing chemical history at this stage. At the same time teachers can’t properly utilize the knowledge of chemical history, and use the chemical history on chemistry teaching design. In this study, according to the current actuality, I analyzed some case of middle school chemistry instructional designs to put forward that in chemistry instructional designs we can set the chemical history to show chemical course of development. Around chemical history, we can carry out inquiry learning and exploration tests. With the help of learning of principles of chemistry, we should analyse the sence about science and paradigmatic revolution, constructing and updating scientific models for students. Of course we can introduce chemists’ lifetime and their contribution on chemistry, think about good and evil of humanity in order to train students humane spirit. To this end, we should fully unearth and use the knowledge of chemical history in our teaching material. And we hope to change the instructional activites that teachers took no count of chemistry history and treated chemistry history as things of little value or interest. I hope that teachers can bring chemistry history into chemistry instructional designs in order to improve students’scientific literacy and enhance the scientific humanities education.
