At the beginning, teaching epistemology as a subdiscipline in instructional theory in high abstraction level, is positioned in the philosophy of teaching level. Based on the systematic summary and conclution of our country at that time, the teaching epistemology finally completed its own theoretical system construction., which was inherited the theoretical core came down from Kay’s" education". At the beginning of its inception, the teaching epistemology has made far-reaching effect for its broad academic view and high theoretical character. However, with the implement of China’s education teaching practice reform especially the new round of basic education curriculum reform, teaching epistemology is covered with suspect about the misalignment of the new concept for curriculum reform from theory and practice.In the beginning of its founding, teaching epistemology as a discipline was suspected the possibility of its establishment and debated around the subject system, subject location and other issues by the scholars. Teaching epistemology has it own ontological predicament, so it is necessary to study from the division of methodology which is originated from the reflection of the theoretic system of teaching epistemology.The existing teaching epistemology is the cross or combination of instruction theory and philosophical theory contained rationalism spirit in some parts, so the theory which was constructed in logic must be as a strong rationalism. So the author combs the development context of rationalism at first, then outlined the characters of rationalism as abstractness, absoluteness,, tooling. The characters of rationalism in teaching understanding are single cognitive subject, only conceptual thinking logic, essentialism, grand narrative inquiry approach of discourse. Its limitations are unable to grasp the comprehensive teaching view, unable to hold the whole teaching life, the deficiency of teaching meaning level and the lack of guidance of detail situation.Based on the Chinese traditional philosophy thought resources--Taoism in Tang Dynasty, Buddhism in modern western philosophy; some genres--voluntarism, existentialism, intuitionism, Freud doctrine, rationalism teaching understanding approach has its own limitations, so we find a certain theoretical support for irrational teaching understanding.From the above thought resources, we further outline the characters of irrational: non-abstractness, relativity, unity of subject and object, the value. And we apply the above characters of irrational in the field of epistemology in teaching. Its principles are mainly: toward understanding the diversity of main body of teaching, the concrete teaching thinking, teaching methods need emotional logic understanding, grassroots narrating the teaching theory of discourse.Rationalism teaching understanding is one-sided and single, but not the complete abandoning of the rationality of teaching understanding. Rational teaching understanding and irrational teaching understanding are complementary, so we cannot take the " either this or that" dogmatism about them, but should take an" either/or" choice of attitude. The two have the necessity and premise to coexistence, and make a general description about the scope combined the above analysis.
