In recent years, the state has placed vocational education a very important position and increased its support; therefore, vocational education has got an unprecedented rapid development. Various types of vocational schools have been busy taking this opportunity to expand their extension, but ignored the upgrading of intension, especially in the aspect that the campus culture and its development do not match.Universities and colleges are important battlefields for Personnel training, and it is a link in the development of human civilization and advanced culture. Campus culture plays an important role in the development of a school. Since vocational institutions act as an integral part of higher education, their campus culture shares the common features of that of higher education. It refers to a sense of community and atmosphere of the spirit created by the cooperation of vocational teachers and students in the long-term process of educational practice, reflecting the value orientation, ways of thinking and norms of behavior of teachers and students in vocational institutions with the characteristics of higher vocational college campus. It is the concentrated expression of the inherent nature of higher vocational colleges and the comprehensive embodiment of the educational philosophy, goals and school ethos. However, in comparison to the general campus culture, the campus culture of higher vocational institutions possesses the professional, open, pilot, practical and other salient features. Campus culture is the soul of a school. As an important part of the school overall strength and core competitiveness, campus culture is the motivation and potential productivity to maintain lasting development of a school. Its building is a complicated systematic project. It cannot be built overnight or just copy others. Its formation, evolution and sediment must go through a long course of practice, requiring careful planning and full participation. Since the formation of higher vocational education in China is just a short period, it is still in the exploratory stage; in particular the construction of campus culture is very weak. In most vocational institutions, the construction of campus culture did not arouse enough attention and form its own distinct characteristics. Due to the different national conditions, it is difficult to follow foreign research results of building campus culture. Many vocational institutions use Tsinghua University, Beijing University and other prestigious models to structure their own set of campus culture and have difficulty forming campus culture which matches its self-development; therefore, the construction task is extremely arduous.Currently both domestic and foreign scholars have mostly started their campus culture studies with the several levels of the construction, including mental level, physical level, Institutional level, and so on. As far as the construction of campus culture in higher vocational colleges is concerned, strong emphasis is placed on school-enterprise integration. This paper takes a higher vocational school in Nanjing for example, taking an in-depth study of the measures and weaknesses in the construction of campus culture after the upgrading and the merger of the institute, On that basis, this paper analyzes the main problems and causes of the current construction of campus culture and searches for the main ways of the campus culture construction in line with China’s vocational schools after referring to the research of domestic and international scholars on campus culture construction of higher vocational schools. First, we should strengthen attention to the construction of campus culture in higher vocational colleges; second, we should make efforts to build campus culture with characteristics of higher vocational colleges; third, we must accelerate the docking and fusion with corporate culture. I hope that this paper can provide some basis and reference for the construction of campus culture in China’s vocational schools and make a little contribution to the sustainable development of China’s vocational education.
