The Study Of The Educational Exchanges Between Fujian And Liu Mingchuan-governing Taiwan

This thesis introduces Mr. Liu Mingchuan’s contribution to the education communication between Fujian and Taiwan when he was the governor of Taiwan in the end of19th Century. It analyses the historical process of education communication between the above two provinces on the basis of the effect of Westernization Movement, the enhancement of Taiwan’s strategic position and the historical background of that time. It also describes how Chinese mainland (especially Fujian province) influenced Taiwan on continuing Chinese traditional education, creating new education methods and developing social education, etc. Besides, it exames the close historical relations between Taiwan and Fujian and its characteristics、influence and inspirations to us. The author thinks MR. Liu Mingchuan’s contributions to Taiwan’s education relies on the active communications between the two provinces and the experiences which learned from Fujian. Now Taiwan and Fujian have built stronger communication on education than before as the development of Taiwan’s modern education.
