Study On The Utilization Status And Countermeasure To Local Geography Curriculum Resources Of Senior Middle School

As the New Curriculum Reform of geography put forward the idea of developing and utilizing geography curriculum resources, experts, scholars of geography teaching and geography teachers gradually began to pay close attention to this problem, At the same time, related research and practice are gradually increasing. However, little attention has been paid to local geography curriculum resources, which depart from the idea proposed by the New Curriculum Standard. Local geography curriculum resources come from real life. And it will be able to make subject knowledge contact with students’ daily life closely. We can not only stimulate students’ interest in learning geography, but also cultivate the students’ love to hometown by experiencing the development and changes in hometown if we can make rational use of local geography curriculum resources. This paper tries to find an effective way of utilizing local geography curriculum resources in geography teaching of senior middle school, so as to help improve geography teaching. This paper makes the definition of related concept by literature survey, analyses the present condition in researching and utilizing local geography curriculum resources at home and abroad, finds out the existing problem in using the resources by questionnaire survey. The problems are:1. The local geography knowledge which students have is limited;2. Students prefer learning through a variety of ways;3. The New Curriculum training courses have little effect;4. Current local geography curriculum resources are very limited;5. The utilization rate of local geography curriculum resources is low. finally the paper proposes the principles and several countermeasures in utilizing local geography curriculum resources. The countermeasures are:1. Improve the teachers’ awareness of curriculum resources and the utilizing skills;2. Develop local geography curriculum resources;3. Integrate local geography curriculum resources into geography teaching;4. Support the construction of local geography curriculum resources by the school.
