Village in the city is a unique phenomena of urbanization in our country. Currently, people have different thoughts about social status of Aboriginal people from village in the city. Some think that they become the weakness who have no field, no job and no social security after losing their fields, meanwhile others argue that they have become the Rentier class who live on the rent or the melon-cutting of collective property. But Aboriginal people themselves allege they are at the bottom of society, aiming to get sympathy of public opinion and more support of public policy. Along with the speeding up of urbanization and the problem of administering village in the city getting worse, knowing social status of Aboriginal people objectively is significant both in reality and theoretics.This research is a case study of Shang Yao village of Xi Xiang Tang district in the city of NanNing from Guang Xi province,it is Guided by the strata theory of Max Weber, and the research method combine document study and field survey. Here we use the method of questionnaire survey, depth interview and comparative analysis. Firstly, investigate the objective social status of Aboriginal people from village in the city by standards of their occupation, earning, educational background and so on. Secondly, seeing about the subjective social status of Aboriginal people from village in the city base on the thoughts of public official, townspeople and Aboriginal people themselves. Thirdly analyse the objective social status and subjective social status of Aboriginal people comparatively, while comparing the opinions of different groups on subjective social status of Aboriginal people. Finally,coming to a conclusion that people have fuzziness in the cognition of social status of Aboriginal people from village in the city. Thoughts of different groups is out of line with the objective social status of Aboriginal people. Then this research gose further to analyse some social effects which are caused by the fuzziness.
