Research into football sport is the main way to promote this sport. Studies of the current literature in this area helps us to understand the latest development of China’s football sport, provides reference for further research and facilitates the healthy development of football sport in China. Though literature studies, mathematical statistics, Expert interviews, logic analysis and other methods, this paper made a statistic study of379articles about football sport from14Chinese PE journals (published during2006to2010), and draws the following conclusion:(1)379research articles about football sport were published in Chinese journals during2006to2010. The number of articles published is at a steady pace with little influence of the2006World Cup. In2006, after the final game of World Cup,100papers were published, ranking the first.90articles were published in one year, which is the fewest. There is not much difference in terms of the number of research articles published each year. This demonstrates the spontaneity and randomness of football research.(2)Among the research articles into football sport published during2006to2010, practical researches account for a large part, while basic researches and development researches are comparatively fewer.(3)In terms of the job title of teachers publishing articles, associate professors and lecturers published the biggest number of research articles about football sport, making the greatest contribution to scientific research. In contrast, the number of articles published by professors is relatively smaller. In the light of students, post-graduates published15articles; doctoral students published28articles; undergraduates did not publish papers in PE journals from2006to2010. Comparatively speaking, the number of research papers published by students is smaller. (4)The research methods of these papers include mathematic statistics, survey, observation, and logic analysis, among which literature analysis is the most frequently adopted method. The research directions mainly focus on football sociology, football professionalization, change of club and football system, analysis of football games.
