In September2004, the new curriculum was introduced to the ordinary high schools inShandong Provincel. In the high school chemistry new curriculum, first independently setabout chemistry experiment teaching of chemical experiment (elective course module), isdesigned for students interested in chemical experiments. But as a result of characteristics ofthe course and a variety of external condition restrict, this course in practice is facing a severechallenge. At present, less provinces adopt such module. The research topic is established inorder to investigate the progress of Experimental Chemistry module in Shandong Provincesince the implementation of the new curriculum.This essay starts with the new curriculum, new chemistry curriculum and ChemistryExperiment module for analysis. It analyse the teaching requirements for the new curriculumfor middle school chemistry experiment, the characteristics of the chemistry experimentcourse and the possilbity and necessity of the module. Some teachers and students arequestioned and investigated in high schools in Weifang city, Shandong province, throughquestionnaires, interviews and other forms to study the teacing and studying progress ofchemistry experiment" module.Through investigating it shows that a series of problems still exist in the teaching ofExperimental Chemistry module", such as: low teaching rate of the module course, studentshave no initiative to choose; teachers and students have inadequate understanding ofchemistry experiment teaching; the implementation of the compulsory module is not in place;the teachers and students have not enough preparation for the experimental Chemistry;moretaskes but less time to teach and study; it is difficult to carry out by effective classmanagement; the existing experimental resources are not enough to meet with therequirement and the test methods in the entrance exam have a negative impact on the course.The essay analyzes the causes exsisting in the teaching of the module and make furtherdescription of promoting the transformation of teachers’ educational concept, the initiavtiveof students,the reasonable integration of teaching materials, strengthening the laboratoryconstruction, and establishing a scientific and reasonable evaluation system of experimentteaching and other aspects, trying to provide some referencing ideas and strategies for thefurther implement of Experiment Chemistry elective module.
