The Problem And Strategy Research About Continuing Education In Higher Educational Institutes Serving Regional Economic

With the rapid development of the science and technology in the twenty-first century, people update their knowledge faster and faster. Human society has entered into the learning society. As an extension of basic education, vocational education and higher education, continuing education plays an increasingly important role in enhancing citizens’ quality and building lifelong learning society. With the economic development, continuing education in higher educational institutes has a great contribution to the local human resource development, enterprise development, and regional economic sustainable development.However, the rapid development of the economic restructuring and social development present a huge challenge to the continuing education in higher educational institutes. We must admit that, with the changes of external environment, the development of continuing education in higher educational institutes lagged behind the socio-economic development to a certain extent. Therefore, it is necessary to profoundly analyze the problems and reasons of continuing education when it serves socio-economic development, and then proposes effective strategies to solve the problems, in order to promote socio-economic development and improve the national competitiveness.This paper is divided into three parts.In the first part, the author discourses the concept of continuing education, continuing education in higher educational institutes and regional economic. And then through analyzing the significance of continuing education serving the regional economic, intended to prove the necessity of this study.In the second part, combining with the needs of China’s regional economic development, the author summarizes the problems of continuing education when it serves the regional economic. Then through analyzing these dominant problems, the author discusses the reasons:lack of awareness to serve the regional economic, imperfect institutional construction, insufficient fund and material resources, lack of "dual qualified" teachers, backward discipline structure and content.In the third part, against the problems and reasons mentioned above, the author proposes the strategies of continuing education in higher educational institutes serving the regional economic:accurate positioning the direction of development, improve the institutional construction, integrate the resources of continuing education, strengthen the construction of teaching team, improve the discipline construction. By presenting these strategies, the author aimed at the development of the continuing education in higher educational institutes, in order to serve the regional economic better, and finally realize the common development of both the continuing education and the regional economic.
