With the development of economy and the implementation of family planning policy, the rural people change their ideas that women are inferior to men in rural area, to raise children is to provide against old age, men are superior to women, at the same time, that a couple has a child has become the mainstream, but some also hope to have two children, a girl and a boy. In such cases, the essay focuses on the topic that whether boys and girls have influences on the value of family, and if it is related that giving birth to children and the value of children.This article is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is introduction. This part mainly elaborates the background and significance of the topic, the purpose of study and research methods and theories overview. The article mainly refers to Confucian view of fertility, Deibenstein child" cost effectiveness" theory and economic theory of cultural theory. It is in view of the present of the economic development and the status of family planning in rural areas, and analyzes family values of different gender children, ultimately getting conclusion that boys and girls are the same and the equal, which positively influences on the carrying out of China’s family planning policy and curb our birth sex ratio imbalance.The second chapter is the basic situation of the sample. It regards three villages in Yaodu District, Linfen city as examples to carry on the questionnaire survey. The present investigation issued a total of600copies of the questionnaires, reclaiming552copies, and the recovery rate is92%, which has effective rate of99%. This chapter gives description of this survey from the gender, age, education, family income, numbers of boys and the purpose of birth.The third chapter is the analysis of results of the survey. This chapter is mainly based on analysis of the questionnaire and on the correlation graph interpretation, from the influences of three aspects, which are that children to the increases of labor force, economic income and family endowment drawing the conclusion that different-gender children makes no difference to the family value. Then it uses the empirical analysis method to analyze the data, certificating that different gender children have no significant on family values.Finally, according to the result of analysis, the essay states that the different gender children have equal importance on the family value from the comparison of the tradition and the present of four aspects, which are traditional conception, the level of economic development, social security system and so on. It also makes us understand reason of the traditional ideas that men are superior to women, raise children to provide against old age etc. From the above, we can give appropriate recommendations to solve the boy preference and the issues of gender inequality.The fourth chapter is the main conclusions and recommendations. This chapter gets the conclusion that different gender children have the same importance on the family value. While because of the stability of people’s ideas, the concept of boy preference still has a certain market, and still influences people’s view of fertility. Then according to the results of the study, the essay is proposed to solve the idea of gender preference, including enhancing the level of development of rural economy, improving the construction of the security system of the rural old-age, building culture of modern fertility, actively promoting that different gender children have no difference on family values and so on, which are in order to have positive effect on the improvement of the concept that men are superior to women in rural regions.
