The purpose of this thesis is to inquiry female managers’ work-life balance. It takes3female managers who have married as research collaborators. It will turn the meaning behind their work and life to explicit their work-life condition. This will also help research collaborators understand their own experience and its significance, and then help other professional women get some useful lessons.Work-life balance, role expectation, role transition and female social gender identity are important perspectives and theoretical foundation of the thesis. Narrative inquiry is the method this paper tries to use in research process. Female managers’work and life derives from their experience including the life and career. Narrative, the best way to present experience, is a kind of language full of daily life, coming from the profound understanding for fresh experience, and it is the perfect way to explore the Female managers’ work and life.The paper covers6chapters.The first chapter generally introduces the background knowledge, including reasons of the research, value and significance, as well as related theories.Chapter2is research methods and research process which mainly introduce the process of research.The main part consists of3rd,4th and5th chapters. First, it is a brief description of their work and life. Second it explores the work life conditions through work-life balance theory and role theory.Chapter6is the research finding and introspection. The finding of the research is trying to answer these questions:first, is the work-life conflict unavoidable to female managers? Second, what is the root of their work-life conflict? Is there any attitude or strategy which can release the conflict? Last, is it possible for Chinese professional women to gain both career and life? The research introspection includes2parts:introspection of research process and research finding tries to give some suggestion and inspiration to future study.
