The essence of the education is cultivating talents, who will meet social need and future challenges. While it’s a long time to cultivate talents, and teachers need to pay more attentions to the differences between individuals. To an international metropolis, Shanghai, in which the educational reform always advances in the forefront of the China and the education moves into the international first-class system. Making a general survey,"to learn" is the tendency of education in the international first-class system. Since1990s, American psychologist Sternberg put forward thinking style theory, which was studied widely and drived deeper research about student’s thinking in educational circles. In the theory, Sternberg thought learning and thinking were not isolated. Middle school period is an important period of developing of the thinking. Along with the new round of curriculum reform, more attentions have been paid to exercising the thinking in learning process. Based on above, the thesis takes Sternberg’s theory of thinking style and the trinary theory of thinking as the foundations, and from December2011to January2012, the researcher investigated into the thinking styles of middle school students in ShangHai through Thinking Style Scale(TSS).The investigation collects2288valid datas taken from14middles schools, which conclude full secondary school, junior middle school and senior high school, in7districts in ShangHai. In TSS, there are many personal informations, such as gender, age, grade, position, interested subject, extra subject, source place, household registry type, learning level, parents’ occupations, merits and demerits of their own and so on, the results are analysised by SPSS. In this thesis, author discusses the distribution and influence factors of13kinds of thinking styles of students in ShangHai, and analyses the influence of the educations on the students with different kinds of thinking styles. Meanwhile, researcher has put forward the corresponding suggestions for current basic educational curriculum reform of ShangHai, and given some references to the middle school teachers for their teaching methods. Given the specialized level of author,the thesis is focused on the data of the students who prefer studying the science subjects or have chosen the science subjects.
