The establishment of science curriculum is one of the most significant action of the China’s quality-oriented education reform. Although Zhejiang is the only province keeps on using the combined textbook of science and only some of the science teachers are carrying out combined subject, science is of great importance in terms of cultivating the next generation science and technology manpower and a major measure for China to coincide with the international science education. With the systematical interconnection of physics, chemistry, biology and geography knowledge, science establishes an open knowledge structure which is beneficial to the overall sensation of natural science for students. It also has positive impact on the development of knowledge transfer and learning ability, and helpful in cultivating scientific investigation ability. It provides scientific methods exercises for students and can help students to focus and analyze science and technology related social problems on a whole perspective. Once a solid basic was established for high school courses, students would be more likely to devote themselves to the development of new technology after graduation from college and apply them to social manufacturing and military, and further enhance social productivity and make contribution to the national development. However, new middle school students often have difficulty in adapting to the learning of science, and therefore have negative feeling for studying. The essay summarize the study about learning adaptation from in and abroad, and also provide survey and investigation about the learning status of new students.The first chapter introduce the background, meaning, process and methods of the research. The major methods include documentary, interviewing and questionnaire. Author firstly designed questionnaire which is distributed among students, then further interviews were carried out among students and parents to get more materials.The second chapter generalizes the nature and function of science subject by widely browsing of documents. The research status of learning adaptability from in and abroad was also covered. The learning adaptability of middle school scientific curriculum was therefore well defined. Learning information processing and parenting impact to children contribute as the theoretical basis of the essay.The third and forth chapter summarize the survey result of leaning adaptability to science among the two classes of new middle school students that author was responsible for. The influencing factors to science learning adaptability was analyzed based on learning information processing theory and parenting impact to children. Generally, these factors includes the difference between elementary and secondary school curriculum, students physiological and psychological factors, the lack of link up education as well as the discrepancy between father and mother in terms of education.In the fifth chapter author provides solution and suggestion based on her own working experience and real teaching cases. In order to alleviate the maladjustment to science for new middle school students,1) enhancing link up education between elementary and secondary school; 2) carrying out sufficient lab testing to improve cognize efficiency; 3) providing guidance to cognize adjustment and optimizing cognizing experience; 4) communicating between home and school timely to give supervision on parenting style.The sixth chapter summarizes the points of the essay and analyze the existing deficiency of the current research and the further direction for further study.
