Textbook constructions in Chinese primary and middle school have been implemented for over60years since the Reform and Opening up. Its reform process can be divided into the following four stages:the imitating the Soviet Union and reconstruction stage(1949-1965), including two periods:reforming the old education as well as imitating the Soviet model (1949-1956) and comprehensive exploration of socialist education textbooks in China(1957-1965); the concussion and destruction stage(1966-1976); the recovery and development stage(1977-1999) and the reform exploration and deepen update stage of basic educational textbook from1999to now. The third stage among them, regarding transition of textbook system construction from "Regimenting System" to "Censoring System" in1985as a turning point, can be divided into two different periods:the restoration and adjustment period (1977-1985) and the rebuilding and innovation period (1985-1999). The textbook construction of "Eight-and-a-Half Sets "is under the transition period of textbook system construction from " Regimenting System " to " Censoring System ", which plays a special role in the history of Chinese textbook construction. It is not only the first practice after " Censoring System " textbook implementation but also the first complete textbook trial for the implementation of compulsory education, which make it an important era of Chinese textbook construction history.This thesis, developed in three aspects which are the historical background of textbook construction, construction process and analysis, aiming at understanding the process of "Eight-and-a-Half Sets" textbook from the beginning to the ending, and making a conclusion of several construction suggestions and discussions of problems during the construction, provides previous reference for the present textbook construction.This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is an introduction including the reasons of topic selection, the significance of the research, the present situation of the research and the research methods and ideas. The second chapter, based on the social environment of "Eight-and-a-Half Sets" textbook and the demands of the textbook development, strongly analyzes on the policies made during the production of at that time. In the third chapter, this thesis depicts the entire textbook construction process. It gets a deeper understanding of it in terms of the textbook compilation, the experiment, the examination, selects and the appraisal. The last chapter is the reflection over the whole process of "Eight-and-a-Half Sets" textbook construction with experience it brings and problems it exposes. Thus, it considers " One Standard, Multiple Textbooks " policy which is the basis of "Eight-and-a-Half Sets" textbook construction, discusses its advance as well as weakness and finally achieves some enlightenment for Chinese current textbook construction.
